Project Support & Advisory

Retained competent-person appointments, incident and near-miss investigation with root-cause analysis, RIDDOR guidance, and monthly SHEQ reporting.

Service 07 — Experience you can trust

Some of what a competent adviser does cannot be packaged as a service line. It is the phone call about whether a permit is required, the second opinion on a subcontractor's proposal, the conversation with a client's auditor.

A retained appointment covers that. You have a named consultant who knows your projects, is available for advice throughout, and produces the periodic reporting that keeps your client, your insurer and your board informed.

What the service includes

Retained competent person

Appointment as your named competent person, with an agreed pattern of site visits and telephone and email advice throughout the engagement.

Incident and near-miss investigation

Investigation of accidents and near misses to identify systemic root causes rather than immediate ones, with corrective and preventative actions.

RIDDOR guidance

Advice on whether an incident is reportable, and support with the report itself.

Monthly SHEQ reporting

Periodic summary reporting covering inspections completed, actions raised and closed, near-miss reporting rates and lost-time performance.

Corrective action registers

Maintenance of a live register so that every finding has an owner, a date and a status.

Client and insurer reporting

Reporting formatted for the audience that has to read it, including client audit responses and insurer information requests.

Enforcing authority liaison

Support in dealings with the Health and Safety Executive, local authority environmental health and other enforcing bodies.

What you get

  • A named consultant who already knows your projects
  • Investigations that find the systemic cause
  • Reporting your board can read without translation
  • Support when the enforcing authority makes contact
